Welcome!

I am Liwei Xu — an art history researcher, emerging independent curator, and artist.

My artistic work explores the allegory of space and the relationship between nature, humans, and animals.

Since 2023, I have been an affiliate researcher at the Center for History at Sciences Po in Paris. I have also taught the history of landscape art — from the ninth to the twenty-first century, spanning Asia, Europe, and the Americas — to students in France. My research continues to focus on landscape and nature in art.

Born and raised in China and later trained in art history in France, I have developed a curatorial approach that is subtle, scholarly and sensitive. I seek out subjects of study that often involve non-human entities — topics that reveal underlying tensions within human societies and remain resonant across diverse cultural and social contexts.
